Good evening my brothers and sisters, I have been thinking about Jesus’ words to his disciples when he urged them not to sleep but to keep watch so that they do not fall into temptation. These words reminded me of a song by the late Oleseng titled “Tsohang.” There is a specific line in which he quotes Christ and sings boldly: ‘Tsohang tsohang tsohang, gore le se wele melekong!’
A question comes to mind: what sort of temptations can someone who is asleep be lead to or fall in? Surely they are asleep?
As I try to answer this, I am reminded of Paul and Silus who through singing hymns at midnight whilst locked in prison, through the power of the holy spirit resulted in all prison doors to be opened, not just their cells and all other prisoners as well.
The above is an indication that though we may sleep at night, our spirit is still awake and if we do not pray, we may be at danger of being afflicted, it could be in our dreams etc.
Taking a moment in the middle of the night to either sing a hymn or pray not only protects and frees you from bondages but those around you as well.
So my brothers and sisters, in the words of the Apostle Paul, do not be weary while doing good for in time, you shall reap what you sow.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
-1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Have a blessed night.
